Welcome to My World of Laughter & Healing

I’m Meera, a certified Laughter Yoga Therapist with a background in Social Work. Over the past nine years, I’ve worked across diverse mental health settings—including research, community outreach, and now, peer support.

Currently, I work as a Peer Practitioner at the Recovery College, where I support individuals on their mental health and recovery journeys through empathy, lived experience, and connection.

Originally from India, I’ve built a loving home here in Australia with my husband Sai, a passionate chef, and our joyful daughter, Janaki.

My journey into laughter yoga began during my professional career when I attended a session that truly transformed me. I experienced firsthand how laughter could heal, uplift, and ease stress—and I knew I had to share it. While on maternity leave, I reflected deeply on the fast pace of life and how overwhelmed so many people feel. That’s when I made a decision: even if I could offer just 30 minutes of joy, movement, and laughter to help someone feel lighter, it would be worth everything.

Today, that vision comes to life through my laughter yoga sessions. My mission is simple: to spread happiness, one smile and one breath at a time.

I’m deeply grateful to the Mackay Council for supporting this dream and offering a beautiful opportunity to practice laughter yoga at the Gordon White Library in Mount Pleasant. I currently run four sessions a month—free for the community to enjoy.

Laughter Yoga is a joyful wellness practice combining gentle movement, breathing exercises (pranayama), and intentional laughter to improve physical, emotional, and mental well-being.

Created in 1995 by Dr. Madan Kataria, it works even if the laughter is simulated—because your body and mind reap the same benefits.
